SAFER CAMPUS MOVEMENT AFTER DARK

Lighting that guides, protects and performs.

We coordinate lighting levels, fixture selection, pole locations, controls and electrical infrastructure as one complete outdoor lighting solution.

01

Safe, Even Visibility

Entrances, paths, steps and crossings are illuminated evenly to help students, staff and visitors move confidently after dark.

02

Efficient LED Systems

Modern LED luminaires, zoning and scheduled controls reduce unnecessary energy use while maintaining practical campus visibility.

03

Controlled Glare & Spill

Optics, mounting heights and aiming are selected to limit glare toward classrooms, neighbouring properties and road users.

FROM NIGHT SURVEY TO SWITCH-ON

A lighting plan shaped around every campus zone.

Every campus has different operating hours, dark spots and circulation routes. We review the site, identify lighting priorities and coordinate the right solution for each area.

01 Existing lighting and night-time survey

02 Lux levels, uniformity and glare review

03 Pole, bollard and façade-light locations

04 Cabling, controls and maintenance access

LIGHTING APPLICATIONS

The right light for every outdoor school space.

A coordinated combination of area lights, pathway bollards and focused feature lighting creates safe routes while preserving a calm, welcoming night-time environment.

OUR DELIVERY PROCESS

Survey, design, installation and handover.

01

Night Survey

We review dark spots, circulation, existing power, neighbouring properties and operating hours.

02

Lighting Design

Lighting levels, uniformity, glare control, fixture types and pole positions are coordinated by zone.

03

Electrical & Civil Works

Foundations, poles, cable routes, distribution and controls are installed with the wider landscape works.

04

Testing & Handover

Aiming, controls and operation are tested, documented and handed over with maintenance guidance.

EDUBUILT × SOFT SURFACES

School understanding, backed by specialist site expertise.

EduBuilt coordinates the education brief while Soft Surfaces contributes civil works, poles, electrical coordination and outdoor-area expertise. Together, we deliver one clear route from survey to switch-on.

LIGHTING BY CAMPUS ZONE

Different spaces need different lighting.

We match distribution, mounting height and controls to the way each outdoor area is used after dark.

01

Entrances & Walkways

Purpose-selected lighting for supervised recreation, courts and evening school activities.

02

Parking & Drop-Off Areas

Wide, even coverage that supports drivers, pedestrian visibility and camera performance.

03

Playgrounds & Sports Areas

Low-level bollards, pole lights or focused luminaires selected around the scale and use of each area.

WHAT WE PLAN BEFORE INSTALLATION

Good lighting starts with control, not brightness.

We balance visibility, uniformity and glare for each location, while coordinating power, controls and maintenance access before installation begins.

01 | Required light levels and uniformity

02 | Fixture optics, mounting height and glare

03 | Poles, foundations and cable routes

04 | Zoning, timers and maintenance access

PLANNING GUIDANCE

Questions schools usually ask.

Which areas should be prioritised first?

Entrances, pedestrian routes, steps, crossings and vehicle conflict points usually come first, followed by parking, play and landscape areas.

Can existing outdoor lights be upgraded to LED?

Often yes. We inspect existing poles, cabling, distribution and controls before recommending retrofit luminaires or a full replacement.

How do you reduce glare near classrooms?

We use suitable optics, shielding, mounting heights and aiming so light reaches the task area without excessive spill toward windows or neighbours.

Can lighting operate only when areas are in use?

Yes. Timers, photocells, zoning and suitable control systems can align lighting with school hours, events and security requirements.
